GIUSEPPE IMPROTA

“DO NOT

JUST LEARN:

DO!”

MY EXPERIENCE

I have over 20 years of experience in photography, filmmaking, and 3D production, including VR, commercials, stop-motion animation, feature films, animated films, and TV episodic productions.

I started as a 3D industrial designer and quickly moved to the media production world.
I founded my first company at 19 while attending the Art Academy in Naples (in Italy, where I am originally from).
After working in the industry in my home country for over ten years, I went abroad almost sixteen years ago to challenge myself with more complex endeavours.

Over the years, I have helped other companies build their post-production pipeline and worked in various roles. I have progressed from being a 3D generalist to specializing in lighting, look development and photography direction.

I am the Studio Director of Photography at Bardel Entertainment Inc. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
I also teach a few classes at KPU University and privately mentor a handful of students to help them more effectively reach their goals.

I have also worked as a professional freelance photographer and as a cinematographer for various sizes of productions and indie films.

Photography started as a more accessible means of earning extra money but quickly developed into a passion and a job that has never left me. It has immensely helped me in my 3D career.
At first, I was involved in commercials, weddings, events, and fashion shoots.
I then transitioned into fine art photography, focusing on wildlife, nature, and automotive subjects.

I recently started my content creation company, IMPRODUCTIONS, where I combine my skills with a great team to create powerful content for my clients.

I also have a Nature & Wildlife Photography and Videography business: GIMPROTAPICTURES.

TRAVELING &

EXPLORING

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”

Exploring is a passion of mine, and I prefer to drive wherever I can.
I love to drive fast race cars on the track as much as I enjoy a beautiful wild landscape in my slow 4x4.

I have driven Europe's wild, unpaved routes for over 10 years.
One reason I wanted to move to Vancouver is the opportunity to travel around the US and Canada in search of animals and landscapes to photograph.

I love to explore roads and areas hidden from most people and to spend time in the wilderness.

Over the years, I have built several expedition vehicles to tackle my adventures: a tiny Suzuki Samurai, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, two Jeep Wrangler JLs, a couple of Delica L400 4×4 vans, a Jeep Gladiator, an RV and now an expedition 4x4 converted motorhome.
In the process, I have learned a great deal about electrical systems, mechanical work, woodworking, and more.

I currently drive an ALP Adventurer 19 RDX (4x4 converted) that allows me to reach pretty much any place I want, work comfortably and stay off-the-grid for long periods.

Over the years, I have realized that immersing myself in the wilderness allows me to recharge after a long, usually complicated, and stressful production.
The images I shoot during these expeditions become beautiful, high-quality fine art prints and videos that people can buy and watch online.
You can find them here.

Another big passion of mine is cars & motorcycles.
I have a car racing license and like to bring my vehicles on track, battling against the time.

My passion for cars (and vehicles in general) got me to start taking professional pictures of them to have a printed memory of each.
As with many of the things I love to do, I made this into a job where I take studio photographs of people’s vehicles and make them into high-quality, luxurious prints for them to hang on the walls of their mancave, garage, office, or as a present to their friends.

This is a very popular product for people who love their cars and want a genuine and unique memory of their vehicles.
You can find them here.

MY EDUCATION

“EDUCATION

IS THE ONLY THING

NOBODY CAN TAKE AWAY FROM YOU”

All my studies took place in Italy.

In high school, I enrolled in a unique Computer Science program where we also learned computer programming.
I could not afford a specialized film school abroad, and there wasn’t much at the time in Italy for VFX, so I ended up attending the Fine Art Academy of Naples, where I specialized in traditional Painting and Set Dressing.

My computer graphics experience, both 2D and 3D, is entirely self-taught, as are my Photography and Cinematography skills.

I have received various certifications, such as Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop and Premiere. I have also collaborated as a speaker with important, well-known 3D industry companies like Newtek and The Foundry.

I have also studied music composition and piano for over 11 years, though I never graduated.

I like to join classes of all kinds and attend as many workshops as possible whenever I can, taking time off from my busy work schedule to improve myself.
Learning makes life interesting, and I always look forward to learning something new.
